Privacy
Iron Road is a free browser game. The tutorials can be played without an account; the main game requires a free account, because your progress, saves and leaderboard entries are stored on our server.
What we store
Your email address, a securely hashed password (we never see or store the password itself), your cloud save games, which tutorials you have completed, and your finished games — final score, network size, freight hauled and how long the game took.
We also record the IP address of sign-in attempts and password-link requests. That is used only to protect accounts against password guessing and email flooding, and it is deleted automatically (within 24 hours for sign-in attempts, and daily for email counters).
While a ranked game is in progress, the game reports its score, in-game date and progress to our server every 30 seconds. This is used to check that leaderboard scores are genuine, and for nothing else.
What we use it for
Your email is used solely to sign you in and to send you account emails you request (set-password and account-security links). No marketing, no newsletters, and we never share or sell it to anyone.
What other people can see
If you appear on a leaderboard, other players see a display name and your game's figures. The display name is the part of your email address before the @ — your full email address is never shown to other players. Nothing else about you is public.
Cookies and tracking
The game keeps a sign-in token, your local saves, and (if you play the tutorials as a guest) your tutorial progress in your browser's local storage. There are no advertising or analytics trackers.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account yourself at any time: open the save menu in the game while signed in and choose Delete account. This immediately and permanently removes your account, cloud saves, tutorial progress and leaderboard entries. You can also request deletion by email.
